nilajean told me a story years ago, how she had always cried every afternoon as a little girl, because Miss Lois of KTVI's version of Romper Room never, ever, saw little "Nila" in her Magic Mirror at the end of the program. With child's logic, nilajean felt unloved that the Magic worked for every other boy and girl but not for her. Eventually she grew past the age for Romper Room, but she never forgot the results of her unusual first name.

KTVI tweeted this morning that they were going to have Miss Lois on the morning news for an interview. I made some frantic calls to the station (as their understaffed weekend newsroom producer wouldn't pick up but let the 'phone go to recording and I had to keep re-calling, but after I explained why I was calling, she took our telephone number and said she would try to get it to Miss Lois.

Miss Lois called, bless her heart, and said she still had her Magic Mirror with her and could now see Nila, even though fifty years had passed. Always a kind woman who loved children, she understood how a little girl with an unusual name would feel passed over, and then as adults we had a delightful discussion about how much we all missed the show. It was one of the sweetest conversations I have ever had.

Afterward, nilajean and I got to explain to our boys, born far too late for Romper Room, about Do Being a Do-Bee and Don't Being a Don't-Bee, the "Bend & Stretch" song, and the non-sectarian prayer Miss Lois and the children always said before their snack time. ("God is Great, God is Good. Let us thank Him for our food. Amen.")

I haven't seen nilajean with this big a smile in years, as the weight of all that remembered pain melted away. Bless you, Miss Lois. We still love you.

Subject:Do you like My Little Ponies?

If so I would like to invite you to this great website I found. I'm sure many of you may already know of it, but if not then please take the time to check it out. I just joined yesterday and 1 day later I knew I had to upgrade to a full account because the site is so uniqe and cute.

The site is called Pony Island. You can visit it here: PonyIsland http://www.ponyisland.net/index.php?recby=15667

What is this site all about? Maybe you have seen other virtual pet sites like neopets, gaiaonline, etc. The premise of the site is fairly similar. You raise, breed, feed, and contest ponies. But here is where the similarities end. Final Fantasy fans will be interested to know that they have a tripple triad mini game you can play online with other players and the cards are generated randomly based on each of your ponies and the pony's stats. Fans of rpgs such as wod and dnd will like the fact that you can spend and distribute your own points when you level up allowing for truely diverse characters. To add to the diversity, the website uses some form of complex code to generate a random image that is unique and never before created until the moment you create your pony (using various hex values for colors and based on real genetics). There is something for everyone at Pony Island.

I didn't think I would like it quite this much but i'm more than addicted. And I think if you like any of the above then you will be addicted too

http://www.ponyisland.net/index.php?recby=15667

Here are a few pics of my ponies:

As you can see it is modeled heavily after My little Ponies which if you're like me, you grew up with through your childhood in the 80s. The site is super cute and free for the first 20 days. after that its only 23 for a year or 14 for a 6 month subscription. There are also people within the game that will help you get your account paid for if you can't/dont have credit card/or whatever.

Why not check it out?

See you in Pony island http://ponyisland.net/userfiles/15667/gallery/echo.jpg

Mbabane - A drinking and dancing celebration by the king's daughter shocked a Swazi traditionalist enough for him to deliver a spanking to the teenage princess, and cast a pall over Swaziland's annual royal bride-choosing rites.
THe King's daughter Princess Sikhanyiso, a 17-year-old who was rarely seen in the umchwasho tassels herself, threw Friday's party with loud music and alcoholic drinks to celebrate the end of the chastity rite.

"We were so shocked that the girls decided to turn the reed dance ceremony into a drinking and dancing spree," Ntsonjeni Dlamini, who is in charge of overseeing traditional affairs, said on Monday.

Dlamini said he was compelled by tradition to beat the celebrating girls - including the king's daughter - with a stick.

Now you are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike. A skeleton, probably the remains of a luckless consumer, lies here. Beside the skeleton is a rusty SKARPT high-quality steel knife with hard plastic handle and a shopping cart.

Search the body.

Take the IKEA GIFT CARD (still has $43 on it).

Take and eat the SWEDISH FISH for sustenance.

Now go: S, E, D, D, E, SW, W, SW, D, W, U, S

Welcome to the IKEA walkthrough.

I haven't posted here in a long, long time. So I'll mark my return with a potentially dry [link].

circa 2000

According to an archived email [1], a web site [2] is or once contained a supposedly unauthorized digital copy of a book [3]. That's not the issue at hand, however. The author and his legal persons are pursuing a someone who linked [4] to said web site.
There is more . . .Collapse )

There are many, many, many 404 messages out there, some more amusing than others. There are even people writing haikus about missing files.
